Firsid Barsa, author of The Janissary
Trilogy, is keenly interested
in Russian and European history of the Jacobin and Napoleonic periods.
Even though the story takes place on a distant world, Barsa
would like readers to come away with a feeling that they have met, and
engaged with, the characters as actual people, albeit people who have
been thrust into the midst of cataclysmic historical events. We
human beings are all products of our time, our class, our culture and
yet the struggle for justice and equality transcend all the forces ever
arrayed against us.
